history
before the cosy apartment on the outskirts of seoul and the withering, sad flowers in his window boxes, vivian was an angel. he was one of the virtues - angels that showed signs and miracles to human beings - and was called miniel, the angel prince of love. he commanded thousands and sang his praises to the heavenly one each day; life was wonderful, and he'd never leave it.
or so he thought.
he was given more responsibilities, thanks to his hard work. with these responsibilities came more opportunities to meet new people. one of these was a high demon in the second court of hell - vivian doesn't remember it any longer.
but, as fate would have it, they fell in love, beginning the worst chapter of his life. it went well at first; they hid well, only seeing each other for work. from there, they grew more daring and less afraid to challenge the strict rules of their respective societies.
unfortunately, this also led to their downfall.
miniel returned late to his post one evening and was confronted by a senior virtue, telling him that he knew who - and what miniel was in love with. due to his upbringing, he'd been taught to never lie, and every bit of information about their love was wrung out of him in a matter of minutes.
he doesn't like to remember what happened next.
(they were upon him with swords and spears and all the heavenly light in the second sphere, and in no time his wings were no more. from there, it's all dark.)
he knows he woke up in a lake. it was in the middle of nowhere and he was glad that no one had to witness such a disgraceful end to his life as an angel. for months he grieved, feeling a terrible disconnect; he'd just been thrown out of the one place he called home and for what? for doing the one thing he'd been taught to do his whole life: love.
it took him a long time, but eventually he established himself in the world, casting off his angelic name and taking on one without baggage. he's got jobs aplenty and friends who care for him, now, and there's no reason why he shouldn't move on.
personality
vivian was literally the prince of love, invoked for love and prosperous relationships, and as a result, he's still very affectionate and loving. if there are misunderstandings, he's quick to try to fix them, but he'll stand his ground if he's hurt. he's unabashedly stubborn, but he's cute, so it's okay, yeah?
he can't lie convincingly and always ends up telling the truth. sometimes this proves to be more harmful than good, because sometimes he's not the most tactful when he does; he prefers to get the facts out as quickly as possible.
due to what happened before he started life on earth, he can become a little withdrawn and snappy sometimes. he can absolutely hold grudges, despite being pretty much a personification of love, and he does pretty often, actually. hurt his friends and never try to make things right, and he'll absolutely hate your guts for ages.
he was a bit sheltered in heaven, and taught that magic is evil; he's still got some things to work out with that, but he's getting better. he's a sorcerer's familiar, after all.
trivia
since he was thrown out of heaven, his powers have diminished greatly, but he's still a formidable opponent, if he were going to go up against someone. vivian's got some of his (super)strength left over. he can still sense magic - it has a scent, similar to whatever magic the person possesses. this has always struck him as strange, considering he was told that it wasn't real.
his halo is still intact, but it shines dimly. his wings are also tattered and torn, but he hasn't had the heart to rip them out or ask someone to get rid of them. they stay pressed up against his back or under a glamour.
